On Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch at church. They were having a fall festival with clowns, so Zach was a little thrown off by the whole thing. We picked out our pumpkins and went on home. On Sunday after church he wanted to see the pumpkins again, so we went over there and he plopped down with a big grin and said "Mommy take my picture!" But I didn't have the camera - darn! Oh, and yes that is a scratch on his cheek - he got into a little scuffle at school last week but it looks much better already.

That night we went to Tabitha's birthday party! Zach had fun looking at the goats and ponies but was not interested in a pony ride. It was a costume party but it was a little warm for his Elmo costume, so he wore his Elmo Longhorn shirt in honor of the game that day.

Tabitha's mommy had lots of fun crafts set up for the kids to do - he had a really great time decorating his pumpkin and making spiders.

We did put on the costume for a quick appearance...

this little girl was frozen in her tracks, she thought he was really Elmo!

"Sick" day

Last week Zachary was having some minor tummy issues, and I knew if I took him to school they would be calling me, so he got to have a day at home with Aunt Cynthia. Doesn't he look sick? :)

Music Farm

This weekend we went to Pioneer Farms where they film The Biscuit Brothers for the Austin Family Music Festival.

Zachary got to see two real fire trucks and the firemen even let him get inside!

There was also a little pumpkin patch...

and he got to see his first Bruce and Kelly show!

Here we are listening to the Biscuit Brothers (on stage behind us), but Zachary is keeping an eye on Clifford, the Big Red Dog.

Back at home, showing off our wristbands.

We also got to see Tabitha and her mom and dad, a friend from school, some donkeys (one really loud one), horses (some big ones pulling a wagon), lots of musical instruments, and some old-timey tractors. We also had fun finding sticks and people-watching.

Singing with the yucky ball

I really have no explanation for what he is doing. :) This is the "yucky ball", which I picked up from a vendor at my conference a few weeks ago. I am not sure if he is singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Start' or the ABC song; I think he switches back and forth a few times.

Mama band!

This weekend I marched with the Longhorn Alumni Band as is my tradition. Some years it is a day game so we have to rehearse ridiculously early, but this year we were lucky enough to get an evening game so our rehearsal was at the wonderfully reasonable time of 10:30 am. Charles brought Zach to rehearsal so he could check out the band. He seemed to really enjoy it, though he said we were too loud. Here he is in the bubble - the Longhorns' practice facility.

Here we are outside the bubble, getting ready to rehearse with the real band.

This is where we sat - that is the real Longhorn Band on the field doing their pregame show.
I found this video of our performance on YouTube - Zach has requested this multiple times over the last few days. It has actually surpassed the Melmo 2-3-4 video in number of requests! I am the one in black and orange. :)

Boo-boo nose

Last week I went to Las Vegas for a conference, so the first day I was gone, Zach fell off the swing at school and got a pretty good scrape on his nose. Charles sent me these pictures on my phone, just to make me feel a little bit better about leaving. ;)

It didn't seem to bother them - he still enjoyed his tacos!
