Dear Uncle Jim,
I really like your funny faces. Thanks again for the awesome birthday brisket. Maybe next year I'll get to go up on the roof with you.
Love, Zachary
- When he runs or walks fast, he holds his left arm still but swings his right arm wildly.
- Charles got some new white tennis shoes and Zach is obsessed with them. The second Charles walks in the door, Zach yells 'Shoes!!' and must help him take them off.

The first thing we saw were the flamingos - he got really excited and thought they were pretty cool.

The sign said please do not feed the monkeys, but apparently Zach thought they looked thirsty.
Yes, that is his sippy cup. About 30 seconds prior to this picture, it was thoroughly manhandled by the monkey (monkeyhandled?). Charles jumped over the railing and retrieved it - of course Zach wanted it back but I'm not quite that lenient with the germs!
Whoa!
We bought some food to feed to the fishes.
This guy needs some Gold Bond lotion!
So does this one!

We had fun at the petting zoo - they have brushes for the kids to use on the goats, so they are super soft from being brushed all day long.

I think Zach thought this little girl was pretty cute - she was a little leery of the goats but he showed her how it's done!
Whoa, look at the size of that catfish!
What's in here?
Prairie dogs! Hey, Tabitha has those at her house!
At the end of our visit we stopped at the toddler play area - they had lots of fun things to climb on and through. They also had a large open space with little hills to climb up and down. Charles said it was like a dog park for kids, which it kind of was. There were several little boys Zach's size so it was cute to see them all toddling around.
On the way home we stopped for dinner in Gruene - they have lights on all the trees around the restaurant so Zach got to 'Whoa whoa whoa!' some more. (Luckily a house on our side street has decided they love Christmas lights so much that they have just left them up and slapped up some hearts so he'll get to do it for another month at least!) Anyway, he really liked the zoo - now we're ready for our trip to San Diego in May!
