The whole family was there - we had a great time visiting and eating cake.
I wanted to get a picture of Zachary with his cousin Madeleine, but they are both 2 and were not too cooperative!
This was the best I could do - aren't they cuties?
Zachary thoroughly enjoyed Papaw's birthday cake - he asked for it for breakfast the next day and has talked about it several times since we got home.
(here he is saying 'One more donut!')
Zachary loved this little water table - we probably spent at least 45 minutes playing here. You used the panels to block up the current to create little pathways, then you would drop your boat in at the top and watch it navigate through. Finally a large school class showed up so I told him 'Okay, it's someone else's turn now, can you share?' and he turned to the kid next to him, gave him his boat, and walked away. I was astounded!
After a nap, we drove to Escondido to meet Charles's friend Danny and his family for dinner. They were having a classic car show so the streets were shut down and we just walked around and looked at cool old cars, then had a nice Mexican food dinner. I unfortunately took no pictures whatsoever on this night! But we had a really nice time and it was great to meet them.
And that was the end of our San Diego adventure - the next morning we loaded up and headed back to the airport, exhausted but happy.
Here we are back in Austin at the airport, waiting for Daddy to come around with the car. Zach is holding Duck, who he acquired at the zoo and who is now a sleeping necessity along with Monkey.
