Fun at the Austin Childrens Museum

Today we went to the Childrens Museum and had a lot of fun. It's just down the street from Mommy's office so we got to park in her parking garage. Here we are having a sandwich at the downtown Which Wich before the museum.

Here we are on the pretend Austin City Limits music stage - Zachary is of course drumming!

His t-shirt was appropriate for this area.

He really liked the little house.

So did Mommy!

More cool blocks and gears to look at - if you pushed the button they started turning.

Fun with mirrors!

More blocks - these were really cool tree blocks.

Zachary is all about balls these days - they had a magic ball that floated in the air!

Yay! He caught it!

This is just a small sampling of our slide photos - we really liked the slide!

We went down and up.

And up and down...

Here we are learning about milk.

And trains.

More buttons to push!

Yay, we like to splash in water!

We really liked the frog pond too. He still managed to find some balls though.

What a fun day!

First note from the teacher

Is this a milestone? I went to pick up Zachary from daycare yesterday and as soon as I walked in the teacher thrust a piece of paper at me - it was an incident/accident report so I thought what have they done to him now? But no... turns out my sweet angel baby bit one of the other babies. I was mortified! She said the other mother took it well and they assured me that these things happen. It left a mark but didn't break the skin. Zachary seemed right pleased with himself. Geez, I have a biter...

No hands!!

Yesterday we went to visit Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Bob because we hadn't seen them in a while. I had gotten Zachary a sippy cup of water and left it on the coffee table. We were just visiting and all of a sudden we all noticed he was just standing there, holding his cup with both hands! He was a little wobbly but he stood there for quite a while. By the time Aunt Cynthia got the camera, he had sat down, so this was the closest we could get to capturing it on film, but he still is doing pretty good! The first time he had no contact with the coffee table. I think they've been working on this with him at daycare, but this is the first time he did it by himself.

The cup game

Zachary's favorite game right now is to talk into a cup. If you take his cup and go 'huhhh!' into it, he'll take it back and do it back for you. It is very cute!

buggy babies

I finally figured out how to get pictures off my phone, and found this cute one - here is Zachary with his friends Lathan, Melissa, and Emily at school. This is the same buggy he fell off of when he first started there. The babies love it - they all go crazy when they see it.

10 months old!

I always feel like these monthly entries are not too exciting, but then today I went back to see what I had written for his 9 month entry to see all the new things he's done this month, and I didn't really do one! I was disappointed, so I'll keep doing them, if only for myself. :-) Someday I'll transfer it all to the baby book... really, I will!

So this has been a big month! Zachary now has four teeth, and is pulling up all over the place with no problem. He is even good at getting himself down, gingerly squatting slightly, then plopping back on his tushie. I am always glad for the extra padding of the diaper. He hasn't really started cruising, just stays pretty much in the same place once he is up, but he does sometimes take his hands off for a couple of seconds, which is always exciting. We've cleared off the coffee table and the little table with the cut glass is next, since I've seen him eying them recently. He's got the crawling thing down, and he is fast! He still says Da-da-da all the time, and when he's mad he says Na-na-na! Ma-ma-ma got lost somewhere, but that's okay.

His hair is still filling in even more - he's got some nice curls in the back. Our unofficial weigh-in this morning was 26 pounds. He is starting to look like a little boy now for sure. I can't believe we're approaching his first birthday already!
So this month he went swimming for the first time, to his first movie, to a wedding, to a couple of band concerts, lots of good stuff!

Ready for this weekend's biker rally

And if you look closely, you can see two front teeth! The other one finally popped through on or around Friday.

Swimming on Memorial Day

We took Zachary to the pool for the first time on Monday. He LOVED it! We went again this morning and took his floaty thing. I think we'll finally get some use out of our community pool this summer!

After the pool today we went to Luby's - he loved the mac & cheese this time. He filled up on that, green beans, wheat roll, and sweet pototoes, then we came home and took an almost three hour nap with Mommy. It was a good day!
